It’s long been understood that a good start in life is important, but now a growing body of research demonstrates how significant parental mental health in particular is to long-term family and whānau wellbeing.

This webinar, which you can watch above or here on on our YouTube channel, built on our recently-published report on this topic, Āhurutia Te Rito | It takes a village. Chaired by Associate Fellow Dr Holly Walker, the panellists discussed perinatal and maternal mental health policy in Aotearoa New Zealand and what we could do better.

Our panellists were Kelly Feng (Asian Family Services) and Jacinta Fa’alili-Fidow (Moana Research) whose expert contributions touched on the respective experiences of Asian and Pacific parents, as well as Amanda Malu (Whānau Awhina Plunket) who discussed Plunket’s increasing emphasis on perinatal and maternal wellbeing. Viewers also had the opportunity to ask questions of the panellists.
